Romania is a country in southern Europe on the Black Sea coast. It borders Hungary, Ukraine, Moldova, Bulgaria, and Serbia. Mountains separate the Transylvanian plateau from the populous plains in the east and south of the Danube delta. The Carpatian mountains are in the center of the country, on both sides bordered by hills and plateaus. The outer rim consist of the Great Planes.
Forests cover about 25 percent of the country and are home for one of the richest faunas of Europe; with wolves, bears, deer, lynx and chamois.
The Danube river forms the southern border and terminates in the Black Sea where countless native and migratory birds flock.
The climate is continental.
Romania is rich in fuels and metallic ore making mining and manufacturing important. Agriculture is also important.
The population of about 22.800.000 people live in an area of about 238.000 square kilometers and languages spoken are Romanian and Hungarian, only a few speak some English or German.
The capital of Romania is Bucharest.

The climate is temperate continental and characteristic for Central Europe with hot summers and cold winters with abundant snowfall in the mountains. The warmest areas are in the south.

Most Romanians are Orthodox Christians, but also Catholics of Oriental and Roman rites are represented as well as Muslims and Jews.

The International Airport is situated in Otopen and called Henri Coandai, about 20 kilometers north of the center. The second airport is about 6 kilometers north of the city and called Baneasa International Airport.

Public transport is executed by busses and taxis in the larger cities. Maxi-Taxis carry up to 8 passangers and they can be hailed like the regular taxis. Some busses operate 24 hours per day. Between the major cities train run on daily schedules.
