Ireland is a country in northwest Europe which consist of the island of Ireland which lies in the Atlantic Ocean.
It is a lowland country of wide valleys, lakes and peat bogs, with islolated mountain ranges around the coast. The climate is mild due to the Atlantic Drift and rainfall is plentifull, though highest in the West. Agriculture, indus-try and service industries are important. The economy could benefit from peace in the north and withdrawl of the English troops.
The population of about 5.500.000 people live in an area of about 85.000 square kilome-ters. Languages spoken are Irish, Shelta, Gaelic and English.
The capital of Ireland is Dublin.
