Greece is a country in southern Europe and many islands in the Ionian Sea, the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. Mountains and hills cover much of the country. Summers are hot and dry, winters are mild and wet and colder in the north. A wide range of manu-factures are produced such as food and tobacco, textiles, chemical and metal products. Tourism is an important industry. The about 10.500.000 inhabitants live in an area of about 132.000 square kilometers. The languages spoken are Greek and Macedonian. Greece is the first democracy in the world and the craddle of our civilisation.
