The climate in the north is temperate and wet, in the center and east it's continental and along the south coast a Mediterranean climate prevails.
France is a major producer of agricultural products and it is one of largest industrial powers in the world.
The about 58.000.000 inhabitants live in an area of about 544.000 square kilometers.
Languages spoken are French and many dialects, German in the Elsace and Breton. Also several Arabic languages can be heard in larger cities.
